Art of Flight

I run a Youtube series called ‘Dslyecxi’s Art of Flight‘, oriented around flying in the ArmA series of games. You can find the playlist for it on my channel here.

Here are the first three episodes. I may not always update this page quick enough to reflect new content, so if you’re interested in seeing more, I’d recommend subscribing to my Youtube channel.

If you would like to see specific topics covered in the future, feel free to leave them as a comment to this page, a post on my tumblr, or whatever works for you. I can’t promise anything re: how often I can create these, or what the content will be, but I hope that you’ll find them to be worth the wait.

I have a little request to you Dslyecxi.

What are your helo control setup.
And how do you utilize your keyboard and mice to control your helo in the most efficient way?

I say this, because im currently unemplyed and can not afford a joystick and pedals.

It would`also be very helpfull if you could show how you do some moves like sidways braking
    and slidelandings etc.

    Hi Dslyecxi,

First off thanks you for all your great videos! I love watching your thoughts on the things you love.

I’d like to request a video for your art of flight section, as I have had no luck in finding what I need. I’d like see the techniques you use for attacking with little bird (or any chopper for that matter). eg. strafing runs and mainly the funnel maneuver. The funnel is what I cant seem to find any info on. Is this just something that is not wise to do, or proper procedure?

I would love to see you perform and explain some of these aspects, in your usual way.

    Thank you for your time

    Mike

Art of flight episode 6 covers some funnel basics, but for a more in depth look at funnels you can try searching “nose-down funnels” on google. Know your terms (ie collective pitch, cyclic, rudder, etc.).

Here is a great tutorial on basic circuits and funnels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuMvvwu9kkg

I realize this is RC Heli simulator, but the principles are generally the same for both ArmA and RC Helis.

Basically, you use the aileron to pull the heli through the circuit while moving your rudder in the same direction to maintain orientation.

      Practice, practice, practice!

    Hey Dyslexci,

Thank you, firstly, just for being an epic source of inspiration in flying. I mean it. 🙂

Could you please do an art of flight video on attack jets, techniques, approaches, so forth.
